What do you like and dislike about living in San Diego???

Travel Info
I want to move there next year from Denver, CO with my children and husband.

Travel Tips
LIKES - Best weather in the country. Beaches. Many things to do. Very cultural. I really love the downtown hear, it is set up perfectly and the trolley stops in many spots in downtown. Low crime rate and low poverty unlike Los Angeles or New York.

DISLIKES - The cost of living is expensive and is slowly going up. Housing prices are expensive but you can find good pricing in other cities it the metropolitan area. Traffic isn't horrible during rush hour but it's not good. Traffic on the off hours is great with no problems.

TROLLEY - There is 3 trolley lines in San Diego. The Blue line runs from oldtown through downtown and then to the San Diego-Tijuana Border. It costs around $2.00 to go from Downtown to The Mexican Border.

A great, affordable, family place to live in San Diego County would be Santee. Santee has some really great schools and is about a 20 minute drive from downtown. You will get much more for your money when buying a house out there. The only thing is it is Inland so durng the summer it is in the 80's unlike San Diego which has 70's. But if you'll have air conditioning during the day in your house and car. At night the weather is fine. Source(s): http://sdcommute.com - San Dieogo Trolleys Website.
Other Travel Tips
Check out Rancho Santa Fe just north of San Diego. It is very nice.
I like just the overall lifestyle of San Diego, it's great. The weather is close to perfect; I live near the coast and it's never too hot or too cold, perfect amount of humidity, not too dry or humid. It only rains in winter and even then it's not that often. Temps usually stay between 66-80 degrees in the day year round. The weather is very pleasant and mild and you never have to worry about it.

I like all of the different things to do here; so many different recreational and outdoor activities to do. Having such great weather means we can be outside year round doing pretty much whatever we want such as playing tennis, cycling, running, basketball, ect... Great nightlife, great restuarants, and many places to shop or stroll around.

It's a big city with tons of things to do but it still has somewhat of a small town atmosphere, at least compared to where I grew up in the Bay Area. I live in Pacific Beach so everything is pretty close and within 15 minutes. It's not as crowded or congested as LA or the Bay Area. It's also cheaper to rent or buy a house here and traffic is way better than both those places.

The people are nice, friendly, and really laid back. Most people here are transplants so I think we're all kind of down to meet new people and make new friends. In my opinion people here tend to be more outgoing than elsewhere in CA. I think the great weather also puts many people in a good mood; it's hard not to be happy or content when it's sunny and 73 degrees outside all the time. I like how people here are not that pretentious either; people dress very casual here, especially in the beach communities. Even the older professionals are wearing board shorts and flip flops and cruising round on a beach cruiser.

And I just love the beach and the scenery here. There are so many nice canyons that bisect all the different communities in SD and provide for natural open space in the middle of a big city. The hills, mountains, and water are great. The views from places like Mt. Soledad, Cabrillo Monument, Torrey Pines, ect.. are spectacular. SD has to have one of the best beach cultures/scenes in the nation.

There is not too much I dislike about SD. Traffic can suck depending on where you work and live. The city is pretty cheap; people here hate taxes but want excellent roads, schools, and more police officers at the same time. We don't even pay for our own trash pickup in the city. Some parts of SD are poorly planned and developed, mainly Mission Valley and University City. And of course housing is way over priced and not in line with incomes here.

Overall SD is a great place to live and that's why I chose to stay here after graduating college. As much as I miss my hometown and being in the Bay Area where I grew up, I just can't leave this place. The people, the weather, the lifestyle...it's all great and why many of us love this place.
well Im not gonna bore you with a long answer. But I dislike the traffic, gas prices, and mortgage prices. I love the weather, malls, attractions, and the people. But yes there is a trolley that goes to tj from San Diego and it goes for about $2.50 a ride.
