Pacific Beach San Diego? Is it a rowdy and party area? |
Travel Info Is it full of drunks with lots of party animals and beach-bumming students? Or is it more classy and affluent? Are there just sleazy bars after bars there? Travel Tips I would say Mission Beach, just south of Pacific Beach fits that description more. The bars are not sleazy so much as very casual. No there are no drunks except during major holidays, such as Spring Break. For classy and affluent, you need to go further north to La Jolla, or even better, Del Mar, Leucadia, and Cardiff by the Sea. There are all in San Diego County, and very pleasant to visit. We always stay at the Capri condo rentals in Pacific Beach. Source(s): http://www.capribythesea.com/ Other Travel Tips theres a great(blues) bar down by the pier, right around where you see the little houses out on the pier. i havent been in years but this place was a blast. somewhat of a 20-40year olds kinda palce .when i was there it was called "the blind melon". there are some sleazy places down there, not the blind melon though.. have fun.if you do go let me know if the blues bar is still there!!! thanks!! No, It's very nice! Also Silver Strand (south) is Nice, Secluded Mostly, Hotel Del Coronado is there, so is Loews Coronado Bay Resort, Blacks beach is nice, (north) long stairs though. Solana Beach has a campground with security very nice. (north) Ocean Beach (south), Imperial Beach (far south, last beach before Mexico) and Mission Beach (south) are the ones to watch out in. I don't think either of your descriptions fits Pacific Beach exactly. It has actually gotten pretty expensive to live there, and many older homes have been converted into nice, new condos in recent years. While there are many students living in PB, there are older adults and professionals, as well. People living there have a work hard/ play hard philosophy - you have to work hard to afford to live there! One would never describe PB as "classy and affluent," it's more "hip and young". Many people do like to visit the PB bars to party, and the beach can get pretty hectic on holidays like July 4. Besides the bars, there are tattoo/piercing parlors, vintage clothing stores, excellent restaurants, a couple Starbucks, and even schools, a library, and churches! Lived there for 5 years. I grew up in Pacific Beach and it has changed alot over the years. It does have way more bars than it used to and is known as a party area now, as well as Mission Beach. It depends which part. Northern PB still has very expensive single homes while MB has more apartments and condos. |
