What is the nearest airport to Napa Valley California? |
Travel Info I plan on flying from LAS (Las Vegas) to Napa Valley or close to it and need to know what the closest airport is. Travel Tips If you are a private pilot, the closest airport to Napa, CA is Napa County Airport (5 miles from Napa). If you are a tourist taking a commercial flight, by distance, Oakland International (OAK) is 49.5 miles from Napa; San Francisco International (SFO) is 58.6 miles from Napa. I used to travel to the Bay area regularly. The drive from OAK is easier and faster; getting in and out of OAK is easier as well. Source(s): http://www.airnav.com/airport/kapc... Other Travel Tips SAnta Rosa has a snall airport wich is about 30 miles away. However, you will need to connect through LAX. From Vegas your best option is to fly non -stop to either Oakland or San Francisco which are arund 40-50 miles away from Napa Valley and should take less then 1 hour depending on traffic San Francisco 57 miles - 1 hour 9 min no traffic Oakland 49.6 miles - 55 min no traffic Sacramento 61.2 miles away 1 hour 6 min no traffic I like to fly into Sacramento whenever possible. It is about the same to SFO as it is to Sacramento. I try to avoid San Francisco Airport wherever possible. The traffic going in and out of it is horrible during mornings and late afternoon rush time. When I travel north to south on the west coast via Southwest I like to go to Sacramento. Oakland and SFO have an airport shuttle to the Napa Area called Evan's. I would definately recommend using that. But will add like 2 hours travel time from time you get out of baggage claim. EDIT - Evan's Airport Service does not service Sacramento. please visit their website at evanstransportation.com. They only serve Oakland & SF airports. To my knowledge there are no door to door services going to Sac from Napa. Maybe Fairfield. If you are going to need to get a shuttle van i would go to Sacramento. I have had nothing but great experiences there. All 3 times i have gotten a shuttle in San Fran they have left without me while i was on time. The traffic in San Fran is terrible as well. That is where you will spend the most of your time. Go to Sacramento and you will avoid major hassles. Good Luck and have a safe trip :) I'd say that Oakland is probably the closest airport (mileage wise), however Sacramento is usually easier because the traffic isn't as bad. Finally SFO (San Francisco) is a little further, but does hook up to "Evans" which is the bus trasport in Napa. This costs about $30 and will drive you from the airport to Napa. It's really convenient and cheaper than getting a van. Check out www.evanstransportation.com for more info about the shuttle. I recommend Sacramento over Oakland or San Francisco. It takes about 1 hour and 5 minutes to drive, and usually has less traffic then going to the bay area (it really depends on what time of day, and what day of the week). You will enjoy Napa. Lots of great wineries and restaurants. Check out Southwest and Alaska airlines from LAS. Maybe I'll run into you here. |
