When visiting the Hearst Castle, which tour would you recommend?

Travel Info
We are going there in April. There are 5 different tours and we will only take one tour, and we're wondering which is the best and most beautiful tour of all 5 tours.

Travel Tips
I would recomend Tour 1 - This is the overview and if you have not been there before it is the one you will get the most out of. The other tours look at other parts of the house, and I beleive 4 is the garden tour which never goes in the main house.

For Tour 1 you don't really have to book ahead of time if you get there early in the day, these tours leave about every 10 minutes so space is rarely an issue.

Tour 5(Night Tour) is another one you should do if at all possible. It is what I would say is the most beautiful just because of the different mood that is during this tour. This is also the longest tour at just over 2 hours and a lot of stairs. However, this is not on all nights. If you do go for this one definatly book ahead of time at 1-800-444-4445 Source(s): Personal Experience

Other Travel Tips
Tour 1 it is! Can't wait. Thank you for your response.

I am a wine geek and loved tour 4 because it takes you to the wine cellar and all the little gardens around the propery, the casa del mar etc. And is wonderful if the weather cooperates with you. I think I have gone in the spring time as well. So lots of stuff is in bloom and the citrus trees smell amazing.

Otherwise tour 1 is nice for first time visitors. Gives you a very good overview.
Tour 1 is good if you have never been before..you get to see a lot of the castle as it is more of a general tour. It includes the pools which are gorgeous! The other tours seem to be more "specialized" and might have you miss some of the main parts of the castle.
