Nice picnic place in sonoma county,california? |
Travel Info I would love to have a spring time picnic under blooming cherry trees in sonoma county wineries. Any recommendations? Travel Tips I don't know about blooming cherry trees in Sonoma. Many of the larger wineries have nice picnic areas but I would suggest leaving it up to chance-- you will find the right place when you are hungry. Most of the smaller wineries would allow you to walk out into the fields and find your own space. Don't miss Roshambo for the out of the ordinary tasting space. It's not just about wine, it's about art and silliness and rock, paper, scissors- a fun place to play. Korbel also has a great tour, tasting, gardens and cafe. You can get some real deals there on their sparkling wines. My favorite place to stay in Sonoma is Fern Grove Cottages in Guerneville. It's a throwback to the fifties, modest and clean with a bountiful continental breakfast buffet. My favorite place to picnic is on the beach at Goat Rock Beach, just south of Jenner on Hwy 1. The harbor seals are fun to watch. Combine that with a walk in the Redwood Forest at Armstrong State Reserve in Guerneville and you will have a day you will always remember. Other Travel Tips One place you could go is Armstrong woods State Park, although there are no cherrie trees that I know of there, but have beautiful redwood trees, and a beautiful redwood grove. There are picnic facilities there. Also, Korbel winery, on River road, Guerneville. They have I believe a very excellent place for picnics, and of course you can tour the winery. This is the Guerneville area, along the Russian River.You can also try the Sebastapol area, as they might have the cherrie trees you are looking for.
