What is the weather like at Big Sur in March? |
Travel Info We are planning a trip to Big Sur in March and was wondering what kind of weather we should expect Travel Tips I went there last year around the same time and it was very, very rainy and cold. I remember wearing a beanie b/c my head was cold. However, it was beautiful!! And we were able to see a lot of whales from the shore, which is a good reason to go in March. Because of the weather, there wasn't a ton to do, but there was a great restaurant we went to--I don't remember if it was the restaurant or the gift shop named this, but it was called Absinthe. The restaurant had great veiws of the ocean. We went on a road trip up the coast on Highway 1--stayed in San Fran and then went up to the Wine Country. I would say that the Wine Country was the highlight of our trip, and the weather was nicer than in Big Sur. Others During the day, in the 60s, so chilly. Nights in the 40s. It can be foggy and chill especially in the morning. If the Marine layer burns off the weather will be very nice and warm up near 70 or at least high 60's. March can be unpredictable on the Calif shore that time of year though. I have been there in March and know that you can also get sunny weather at that time of year, but it probably will not be hot - Big Sur weather is always unpredictable, but unless you get a bad storm, you should have a great time. If it is foggy, try a hike in the hills behind Julia Pfeiffer Burns State park. You may be able to hike above the fog layer.- depends--early March or later? Probably COLD--because we were just there a couple of weeks ago--and BRRRRR...we had on windbreakers/jackets/sweaters etc and we were all cold--it was quite windy--I wish I had brought my winter coat and gloves...It was beautiful thoug--it's just a good idea to be prepared...I think it warms up in the Spring--so maybe late march it gets warmer?.... |
