San francisco places? |
Travel Info so my friend and i wanted to hang out in san francisco. she doesn't know the place well, but i used to live there but much has changed. does anyone know any good places to hang out. preferably cheap but still fun. like golden gate park stuff... i remember there was a lake where you could paddle around in, is that still there? but yeah any ideas would help. Travel Tips You don't say how long it has been since you have been here. With the 89 quake and the removal of the Embarcadro Freeway the waterfront has become a great place to hang out. The Ferry Building has been renovated with lots of food vendors, make a picnic sit on the benches on the bay with amazing views of the Bay Bridge. Walk along the Embarcadro [Herb Caan Way] to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf, for great people watching. Incredible views of Treasure Island and the Bay. Then from the wharf [still good Irish Coffee at Buena Vista] take a cable car back through Chinatown. Get off, buy cheap, cool souvenirs before walking through Union Square & Yerba Buena Gardens. Enjoy! Others My spot has always been the cliff house. Love the clam chowder... but yea, it was remodeled and it no longer has the elements it had before, such as historic newspapers, pictures of famous visitors, and the downstairs museum. I guess the location is still good though. The lake with the peddleboats is still in the Park...also check out the Tea Garden when you're there. Fisherman's Wharf is pretty cool, too. Go to Coit Tower, and walk across the Golden Gate Bridge if you get a chance. I live in Marin County (just north of San Francisco) and I love going into the City. The Marina is a nice place to hang out. There is also Union Street . im suggesting the ffg : 1. fishermans wharf 2. bay area 3. Union Square and Golden Gate Park for some memory picture-taking especially Shakespeare Flower Park 4. Trolley Car at bay cruises then of course since you are on trips, you might want to shop for souvenirs or just plain shopping for goodies, i recommend sacramento st, union square and Japantown (this is like you are in japan while in sf) a shopping spot And dont forget to go to ROSS store...you can find just anything, everything at a low low price .... That fort under the golden gate is fun. There is always surfers. The paddle boats are still there. Golden Gate park is great. Go to the De Young, the tea gardens, hippie hill, always something to look at there. And it's walking distance from Haight Street, my personal favorite part of the city. There's a couple hookah bars there, a huge Amoeba, cool shops, and best of all, Citrus Club for dinner. Other people have already given you the general touristy things, like Pier 39, the warf, etc. |
