Life if i move to CA? |
Travel Info Im thinking about moving from PA to CA, san fran ....does anyone know if it would be hard to find a job making about 25k to start there and how much the avg or cheapest apt is without getting into dangerous areas Travel Tips It isn't difficult to find a 25K job in the San Francisco Bay Area. That's the easy part. But the cost of living is very high (second only to New York City), so most people need much more than that. You can find shared housing for $500 to $800 a month, if you don't mind living with other people. The lower end of that range usually means sharing with college students, while the higher end consists mostly of single professionals. It's practically impossible to find a private apartment in a good neighborhood for under $1,000 though. Be wary of ads for cheap housing that only gives the location as a vague "Downtown" -- most of the time this actually means the Tenderloin (TL), which is the skid row area. Also look out for Bayview/Hunter's Point, Oakland, Richmond, and East Palo Alto (ghetto). Others I don't recommend SF. For $25k to start...you won't find a refrigerator box that cheap. I recommend Sacramento. 2 hours from beach, 2 hours from mountains, and MANY rivers to boat and play in. Most important...More jobs, cheaper living conditions than SF and cleaner. If you want any specific info...drop me a line. Finding the job won't be your problem, they have fast food chains that pay that much out here, your problem will be with housing unless you room with someone. Other than that you will have to work at least 25 miles away from home like most here do. I am moving out of this state because I can't get ahead here with the high cost of housing plus you cant find parking in the city without getting tickets and towing fees. It might be more cost effective to live in an outlying Bay Area city. Average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in a nice area can run you about $1200. As far as getting a job, it depends what kind of work you do. WONDERFUL! I LIVE IN CALI AND I LOVE IT! Life in San Francisco Bay Area: Expensive, too much traffic, foggy and cold on the coast in the summer; certain places that are car-based sprawl (like San Jose) San Francisco in particular: Expensive, overcrowded with residents, commuters and tourists, cold in summer. And then there's the fact that the Big One (major earthquake) can happen ANY day without warning because modern conventional geological science has not developed an accurate earthquake warning system, and shows no sign of ever doing so.
