How liberal is San Francisco?

I have just been accepted to San Francisco State - how liberal is this school and San Francisco?

I was born and rasied in sf so most, if not all the people I know hold liberal views. SF State is very liberal. But it is such a melting pot of different views being people are so expressive and opinionated that you're bound to find some right-wingers in there. for the most part, the people here may disagree with some conservative views, but respect your opinion because we'd want you to do the same for us.

It sure ain't Texas. Or even Florida for that matter.

Like New York, Chicago, Washington-Baltimore, Boston, Seattle, and Los Angeles... it's a forgone conclusion that San Francisco will go Democratic on election night. However, there are also surprising pockets of conservatism. Liberals clearly command a huge majority in City Hall, but that doesn't mean the conservatives are quiet and docile. Far from it.

San Francisco is about 75% extremist left-wing and 25% extremist right-wing. Remember, this is the place that gave us *both* Condi Rice and Nancy Pelosi, *both* Michael Savage and Willie Brown. This is the place that hosted an Impeach Bush march a week after it held an anti-abortion rally.

The SFSU campus is more of the same. You'll see far more liberals than conservatives, but the conservatives are there. Here are the links to the SFSU College Republicans and Democrats:

Not as bad as Berkley is. SF is a mess with it's liberalism, the bums are everywhere and are aggressive. Castro on Saturday night is like going to a freak show; not to be missed.
Extremely liberal, but not as bad as Berkelely. The people there are so off the wall they think they can impeach President Bush or something. Even Nancy Pelosi is too much of a moderate for some harcore left wingers there. A lot of activism and that type of stuff there, no one is ever happy with the status quo and always want change. It's a pretty interesting mix of people, mostly left winger but some harcore right wingers too as someone else pointed out.
Minds are so open in SF and Berkeley you have to step over the brains on the sidewalk.
I am native born northern Californian and have only crossed that bridge a handful of times. The place is to visit not to live. Why did you even apply there? Check into transfers for next semester there are lots of schools away from that place that are much better. It's also very expensive to live there. You might want to reconsider the whole thing.
