San Francisco State University or Chico? |
Travel Info i have been accepted to both - which one is better, which one should i attend? Travel Tips Go to Chico! SF state would be some much more boring and you wouldn't get the real college expericance b/c it's a commuter school and it's cold there all the time. Plus SF is lame for college kids unless you want to be some liberal activist. I had a lot of buddies go to school in Chico and I always loved going to party of there. Chico one of the best college towns in CA for sure up there with Santa Barbara. The chicks are so hot up there and are all down. There are tons of huge parties up there all the time. Go up there for Labor Day, it goes off with 30,000 people up there floating down the river and drinking. Everyone from Chico loves it up there, trust me you'll have a much better time there. Also a degree is a degree and it really doesnt matter that much, especially when you are comparing a CSU to another CSU, most employers just want to make sure you have a degree. SF State isn't known for it's academics. Plenty of my friends from Chico have found good jobs and older adults I know that graduated Chico are very successful. Also Chico has a much better business program than SF state, one of the best in the state. SDSU and Long Beach have much better academic reputations, but SF State is no better than Chico or anything special. A Chico degree will go just as far as a SF one. College isn't just about academics either, plenty of kids at the college I went to, UCSD, are smart as hell but socially retarded and you need to have social skills to get a job too b/c a degree can't talk and show personality. If you can't tell from other people's comments, people in SF are pretentious and think they are smarter than everyone else. they think they know what they're talking about when they dont have a clue, like the ones saying SF State is better academically when its not. Just look at how they look down on Chico as a party school/joke when SF State is not known for anything; academics or parties. You're not missing some Harvardesque education at SF State by going to Chico. And if you major in business, it's much better than SFSU. Some of what people are saying about Chico are stereotypes and flat out wrong b/c according to US News Chico is more selective and is ranked higher than SF State, so you will get both a better education and better experiance at Chico. Chico: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college... SF: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college... Others Great education? either better setting? SFSU for the proximity to a great city..... parting? Chico! go to the Madison Bear Garden go to chico if u wanna meet some nice chicks but if u r guy go without thinking to san francisco hope u find what u r looking for :) Go to SF State. Chico is a joke. You want a degree from a beer swilling party school? Chico You want a school located in the Central Valley which is an oven in the summer? Chico You want a school in a big city? SF State You want a school with cold and fog in the summer? SF State Myself: I wouldn't want a bachelors degree from a school known mostly for partying, plus I hate the Central Valley heat in the summer I live in No. Calif. I've been to Chico and couldn't wait to get out of it. It's hot, boring, and you're stuck around the same people all the time. If you are moving out, I would suggest SF STATE. You would get the diverse atmosphere, good food, and just a cool collection of people. Traveling around the city and the Bay is relatively easy too. SF has plenty to see if you haven't really been here before. Sure, SF State is a commuter school, but there are several people living on campus. It's its own community; students have a lot of say in what goes on. But it is probably a little pricier than other CSUs. Academics wise, I had several great teachers. I majored in child development and had few classes I didn't like at SFSU. The school has really good business, ethnic studies, nursing, film and art departments if you are thinking of getting into those. There are others but I can't remember them. I suggest visiting them both and see which you like better and check out some degree programs and extracurricular activities (at least glace at their school paper to see what the students are like). I obviously have my preference, but you make up your own mind. |
