The old funhouse in san francisco what street was it on?

Travel Info
was it where the safeway is or was it where the la playa apts are?

Travel Tips
I was very young, but I still remember the funhouse as being, well, "mind blowing". There are apartments there now, so your answer #2 would be right. The first site below is a devoted to, among other things, preservation of things from "Playland". The second has many old photos and a complete history from the first "carnie" game to it's demolition in 1972. Source(s): http://sonic.net/~playland/sallesson.htm...

Other Travel Tips
I believe it is where the La Playa Apartments are. I recall that Laughing Sal was on the North West Corner of that block -- That would be corner of Balboa St. & Great Highway

This could probably be researched at the main library in Civic Center. I'm sure there are old photos somewhere.
Go to the Musee Mecanique at Fisherman's Wharf and the Laughing Sal along with loads of other mechanical entertainment machines are there and they run on dimes and nickels.

It's inside of what used to be a warehouse-type area for the USS Pampanito submarine just outside at the pier.

They're both pretty cool.
Visited the Musee last summer and actually stayed overnight on the Pampanito on two separate occasions.
