Where's the best place to stay when holidaing in San Francisco with our 3&4 year old kids?and what's fun to do |
Travel Info Are there any hotels with baby sitters ? Travel Tips I would stay at Seal Rock Inn and take the kids to Golden Gate Park and then drive up and park up at Stow Lake and take a walk around the lake or rent a boat or one of those bicycles where you can pack the whole family in and you & your wife peddle it around the park.. Many seniors and families go up there to walk the one mile around the lake. You could leave your car up at Stow Lake (parking is free there). Ask someone where it is, but there are steps at the s/e end of the lake and you can walk down to the Japanese Tea Garden from there. When my sons were young, I used to take them there to practice walking on the paths, see the fish in the water, and we would climb the steep little bridge. Bring your camera. There is also a children's playground in the park. Need to get your car & drive to it. You could go out to 10th Ave & Lincoln or on Irving St. to get something to eat (cheaper than buying it at the DeYoung Museum restaurant next door). Great bakery on west side of the street 10th Ave. between Irving & Judah. Kids and parents love it there. It's coop owned. If you are feeling tired, go back up the berm at Stow Lake to retreive your car. Parking outside of the park, you have to feed the meter. That's the drawback. There is a lot to do in Golden Gate Park that's child friendly. Cable car ride (get a seat on the outside bench and hang on to the kids) from Powell & Market turnaround out to Fisherman's Wharf. Then go put the kids on the merry go round at Pier 39. (They would like to look at the famous sea lions who took over and live there, too.) Others Don't know about hotels, we stayed at the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf which was great but not sure what the hotel would be like for kids. I'd recommend taking them to Pier 39 at Fisherman's Wharf - you can watch the sea lions, ride a carousel and check out the shops - kids and adults. It's pedestrianised too so you don't need to worry about traffic! 3- and 4-year-olds are not going to appreciate San Francisco; why not save yourselves a lot of bother and leave them in the care of friends or relatives while you go enjoy the city? i dont know about hotels, but you can go to fishermen's warf, exploritorium, golden gate park, coit tower, ride the cable car, ride the ferry to saulsilito, and more..... |
