Travel Info 1989earthquake? Travel Tips Well it shut down the World Series. Bridges and double-decker freeways collapsed. There were highways that suddenly just ended with drop offs. The Embarcadero collapsed. The quake was felt at least north to the Napa Valley and caused damages. My relatives had plates flying everywhere, gas mains ruptured, cracks in walls, etc... I couldn't get through to Yountville for several days by phone to check on relatives. It was crazy. Others what about it? Yeah I remember that. I was in Panama at the time. I couldn't get a call into the Bay area for days. shook the earth.
