Is the HI - San Francisco, Downtown @ Mason St a good choice?

Travel Info
I am planning a 5 night trip to SF and need tips on this Hostel. Is it a good choice? Is it in a safe area? Can I easily get to transportation to get arround in the city?

Have you stayed there? Should I get the shared room "en suite" or will it be OK to share the bathroom with other rooms?

PS: This is for a married man traveling (unfortunately) alone.

Travel Tips
It's a great choice.
Sharing a room and bathroom is really no big deal because you spend little time in either.
From the Hostel location, there is access to all kinds of transportation: BART, buses, trolleys and cabs.
It is very safe during the day and early evening hours. I would not venture out at like 2 in the morning for a walk though.
Bring ear plugs just in case there is a snoring giant in the bed across from you.
To put your wife's mind at ease, let her know the strip clubs are very far away from that area and the Hostel is used by many traveling senior citizens ))
