Where can we go for a romantic weekend get-away? |
Travel Info We live in the San Francisco Bay Area and our 10-yr wedding anniversary is coming up in May. I know there's tons of places to go, but has anyone been somewhere recently that they'd like to recommend? Travel Tips Puerto Penasco, Mexico. In the states it is called Rocky Point. We went there a few weeks ago. It is in driving distance (3 hours from phoenix, 6 or so from LA.) It is GREAT. It is still very Mexican. Not all "touristy" yet. Good local restaurants. It is on the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez). Beautiful views at sunset. FRESH seafood. Our hotel (Playa Bonita) was RIGHT on the beach for only 69 bucks a night - there might be nicer, but why? Has lots to do. Take a trip on the Fiesta Cruiser at sunset for dinner. Shop. Rent 4 wheelers and ride anywhere, even in town - out on the sand-dunes...where ever you want to go. Lots of unpopulated beaches to beach-comb about 2 miles out of town. We found very cool shells, sand dollars, live clams and oysters washed up on the beach. There are dolphins that hang out and you can see them play from the beach. Anyway, it was a good trip for us, a lot of bang for the buck. You could fly to phoenix, rent a car and be there by lunch. Spend a long weekend and be home for work tuesday...monday if you wanted. I've been there 5 times, and love it. Planning the upcoming trip soon, but this time bringing my one brother with me. My favorite bed and breakfast would make a great romantic getaway for a wedding anniversary. It's in Sonoma County and it's called Honor Mansion. If you enjoy wine tasting, there are many wineries in the area as well. Healdsburg has a cute little downtown area to explore. For more info go to: http://www.cheers2wine.com/honor-mansion... Another choice would be Seascape Resort south of Santa Cruz in the town of Aptos. This resort is lovely and perched right on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean. For more info on Seascape Resort go to: http://www.cheers2wine.com/seascape-reso... The best valentine's weekend I had in my life was when I took my then new bride to the seacliff motel in Gualala (2 hours up the coast from SF). It is right on the ocean and has an amazing view from the deck. We heard waves and seagulls all weekend, a great sound to fall asleep to. Each room has an in-room hot tub for two and a fireplace. Complimentary champagne comes with each room. I can't recommend it highly enough, my wife was very happy which meant so was I. :) If you decide to go to it, call asap and try to reserve an upstairs room, the view's even better there. http://www.seacliffmotel.com/ hey my parents are very romantic with eacother, last weekend they went on a romantic trip to celebrate their 16th anniversary, they went to the Bernardus Lodge in Carmel, and absolutely LOVED IT!!! it is a very romantic spa resort near the ocean and it is gorgeous, pricy but best time for the buck! it is gorgeous definetely reccomend it!!!! also there is the ritz carlton in half moon bay and in san fransisco! thats another gorgeous place to go, calistoga, SANTA CRUZ!!!!!!!!!!!!1 santa cruz is gorgeous, lots of fun romantic places |
