From Oakland airport to Berkeley at mid-night, what should i take? a bus? a taxi? a shuttle? |
Travel Info I've asked this b4 but the answers i received, did not match the timing of my arrival to Oakland which is 12 am, i dont know if the buses or the shuttles are still working, if not; can i take a taxi? or anythig other than a taxi? Travel Tips I'm not sure if you are traveling on a weekday or weekend. Here's a weekday itinerary from http://www.transitinfo.org/tripplanner/i... Trip Itinerary for Wednesday, leaving at 12:00am. Depart: 1 Airport Drive in Oakland Then: Go to: N.E. Corner Of Hegenberger Rd & Airport Dr Board: AC Transit Bus #805/Downtown Oakland at 12:38 am (next bus 1:38 am) Fare: Pay $1.75 Get Off: 14th St. & Broadway at 1:28 am Then: Go to: S.W. Corner Of 14th St. & Broadway Board: Ac Transbay Bus #800/Oakland/Richmond at 1:35 am (next bus 2:35 am) Fare: Pay $1.75 Get Off: Center St. & Shattuck Ave. at 1:55 am Go to: University Of California Berkeley in Berkeley Total Travel Time: 1 hr 58 min Total Cash Fare: $3.50 Not the most convenient or safe itinerary in the world. Other transportation options (taxis, shuttles, etc.) can be found at: http://www.oaklandairport.com/shuttles.s... You may want to call the Oakland Airport's Visitor Information at (510) 563-2721, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and ask if there is a regular shuttle for Berkeley (there used to be one called "Easy Way Out" that parked out by the shuttle pickup point, but I don't think they are around any more). Good luck! Source(s): I graduated from Cal in 1997 and now I travel to Cal on the regular basis from So Cal. Other Travel Tips shuttle or bus eigther Realistically, you'll probably have to take a taxi. The BART subway stops running at 1 AM. You might be able to catch the last train to Richmond (which stops in Berkeley, and arrives at the airport station at 12:25 AM)... but it's so close to your arrival time that I doubt it. Most of the buses stop running at 12:30 AM as well. AC 805 runs late night, but it doesn't go to Berkeley. Moreover, the area around Oakland Airport is not terribly safe at night, so you're probably better off paying more for a cab. ya take a taxi but it might be kinda expensive Your arrival time makes BART a less that ideal solution as other posters have already pointed out. Arrange for shuttle service ahead of time. Bayporter express serves the east bay http://www.bayporter.com/ If you can't get someone to pick you up - then you might want to consider a shuttle ... but they can be hard to come by also at that hour, and often make several stops. I personally would consider renting a car (www.carrentals.com), then returning it the next day when someone was available to help me, or when I could take BART. I've come into OAK a zillion times at midnight, and even later (America West has a flight that arrives at 1:20 AM), and have done just that. |
