Where would be the best neighorhood for me to live within 3 miles of downtown? |
Travel Info I'd like a safe neighborhood within easy walking distance of a grocery store like Safeway. My target rent is $1,500 and I don't care if it's a large studio or 1 bedroom. I would also need to use public transit to get to 560 Davis St for work. Travel Tips Western Addition is conveniently located right in the middle of the city. Avoid the areas between Laguna and Scott [east and west] and Hays and Ellis [north and south] as they can be a bit rough. West of Divisadero to Masonic while a bit further out is a great area as there are two supermarkets and even a Trader joes. I live in this neighborhood and actually do most of my shopping in the neighborhood stores as their prices are often less than Safeway. North beach is a great choice for you but with your rental budget you will only be able to get a studio. Same holds for nob hill, and pacific heights. The area is served by several bus lines that will get you to lower market street with a short walk to the Davis street address. Others pac heights and walk to whole foods, take #1 muni line to davis street Knob Hill Laurel Height/Fillmore + California areas Express bus from this area takes you right to work and they are fun and upscale but little less expensive. Lower Pacific Heights and Inner Richmond other options. Western Addy is very spotty, so hard to choose right area if you are from far away....
