Travel Info I am moving to Beale AFB with my husband is there anything fun to do on base?? or off?? Travel Tips Beale is a typical airbase. It is nice but a bit isolated between Roseville and Yuba City/Marysville. I am not sure what you like to do, but if you enjoy waterparks, then Sunsplash is about 25 minutes away on interstate 80 in Roseville. They have great water slides, video game arcade and miniature golf. The Galleria Mall is about 20 minutes away off of highway 65 and Galleria Blvd. Crush29 a new restaurant is in Roseville and is very popular with the younger crowd. It has great wine and a good menu for under $20.00. Chico is a fun college town with plenty to do. San Francisco has great museums, night life (you have to go to Beach Blanket Babylon). It is hysterical and inexpensive. Enjoy!!!! Others I didn't realize Beale was still open. Can't say about on base but the 'Frisco area is a great place. Fisherman's wharf is a place where you can spend a day or a week and have a great time. The seafood is great. I really prefer the open air, less expensive, restaurants over the indoor ones there. China town is another great destination. More than can be seen in a day. Lot's of shopping, sight seeing and good food. Golden gate park is also good and further out the redwoods and coastal headlands are beautiful. These are only a few of the great destinations in the area. I have always enjoyed the times I spent in the area. Good luck and have a memorable tour of duty. More or less you got the same things on all bases. If you like the whole being safe then stay on base, but if you like adventure any city or state there is always something to do and see. I myself with family lived in Alameda on base. I loved taking the ferry to Frisco ride the trolly walk around China town. Have lunch @ the beach. drive around the bay and visit family and friends. Good luck! Beale does not have much on base anymore. You will be much closer to Sacramento than to SF so you might try posting your question under Sac to get some more answers. I have lived in Yuba City and Sac and can tell you there is nothing special in either location. Yuba has a small mall, a movie theater, several restaurants and other basics. Marysville has an amphitheater which has had some pretty good people perform. Sacramento has an IMAX theater, malls, miniature golfing, a pretty good drive in near Bradshaw, bowling, etc. |
