Travel Info Which is an affordable, decent neighborhood in San Francisco to live ? Travel Tips There are some parts of Bernal Heights that are still affordable, though you'd want to stay north of Cortland. The Sunset and Richmond districts have the worst weather in the city (foggy a good deal of the time), so housing there tends to be less. They're also safer than some parts of the city. Lower Haight, though it's starting to get pricey. Do *not* get a place in the Tenderloin. Others Sunset District Try the Tenderloin. The western addition still has a lot of affordable housing especially in the NOPA neighborhood. But be sure to check out a neighborhood thoroughly before you sign a lease. The western addition has some blocks that are drug infested and violent. Affordable is relative ... but stick with the Sunset for lower crime rates. Otherwise, try the East Bay (Pittsburg, Antioch, Hercules, Rodeo ... ) I just moved here four months ago and I can tell you that is is VERY difficult to find an apartment. Affordable is, as they say, relative. I live in the sunset because its the only place I could find something that was not horrible and was in my price range. |
