Travel Info Where is a good place in the Berkeley or Oakland hills to go hiking? Travel Tips Wildcat Canyon. If you go to the lake in Tilden park (Berkeley) and then go west from there, you will hit Wildcat canyon. It has some nice trails up into the hills and down to the creek (Wildcat Creek). The best part is that there is almost no one there. Others Tilden Park is the best try tilden park. yeah, i used to love hiking up in tilden. just go far enough away from the lake and you won't see a soul. and the terrain can change a bit making it very nice. i like the overall foresty feel, there are a few trails with overhanging eucalyptus trees on both sides that blots out the sun and it feels like some enchanted forest. and of course with wildcat canyon right next to it it makes for an amazing stretch of hiking. there are some areas with nice wildflower growth, some very nice views, some flat areas and some rolling hills so it's got a little bit of everything. the only disadvantage is if you go near the main places you may feel a bit crowded but that's all the more reason to venture out a bit. |
