Is O'farrell Theater Strip club also a brothel? |
Travel Info Hello friends I am married now and I belong to a different country where going to strip clubs or brothels is never encouraged either for men or women. I recently discovered that my husband used to go to Strip clubs before marriage. But he never went to these clubs after marriage. I am afraid that sex is also possible in these strip clubs. But he denies that he never had sex in clubs. But I am unable to trust him. I am very disturbed. Can anyone please tell me if sex is allowed in O'farrell theatre? Travel Tips No strip clubs in the US are "brothels." Sex would not be "allowed," and it would be against the law , though there may be something on offer unofficially at many places, and lap dances and such are offered at almost all. I believe you are referring to The Mitchell Brothers theater on O'Farrell Street. I've never been, though have passed it often when going to The Great American Music Hall for concerts. I've certainly heard stories that would make me think there have been some activities going on there... but given the size of the place and the likely number of customers they seem to attract, I'd suspect that even if it was common, that 90% of the people there are just there to watch the girls. Ultimately, you are going to have to decide if you trust your husband or not and consider the reasons why you are questioning him in the first place. Others Absolutely. And at every other Strip Club that exists. Strip clubs employ dancers. Dancers are working women who do not like to be abused or assaulted anymore than women who work in other occupations. O'Farrell is not a brothel. It's an old business in SF. Many people have patronized the place. http://www.zbone.com/basca/clubs/mitchel... Trust is important in a good marriage. Let the past go, focus on the present. If there are other problems, should talk to a therapist. I met some SF dancers at the union hall who were activists fighting for safe working conditions. It's certainly possible. Many strippers also work as prostitutes on the side. The O'Farrell does have a pretty infamous reputation for pushing the limits. It was really one of the first strip clubs in the United States to allow kissing and heavy petting. However, there are registered sex clubs in San Francisco (Power Exchange, Eros, etc.) ... and a strip club is not a sex club. It cannot legally function as both. So, while it is impossible to know if you husband had sex with a stripper or not, I doubt it took place at the club itself. This is simply one of those issues that you're going to have to work out with your husband. This is not a legal issue. O'Farrell has been there since the 1960s, and they're not going anywhere. |
