Want to visit Redwood National Forest? |
Travel Info What city should I stay in? Does anyone recommend a hotel? Travel Tips Also you can try Humboldt county, there's Redwood parks there, drive thru redwood trees, gift shops, etc. The closest town to all this would be Garberville in my opinion, there is a Best Western hotel there and also a few others. All the Redwood parks are within driving distance, that is if you don't want to go to Eureka. And on the way back to the Bay Area, you can take a little detour at Legget, taking highway 1, then coming out at Fort Bragg, very nice drive. :-) Good Luck and drive safe !!! Others Eureka Ca , Crescent city Ca , Or Brookings Or . Check out Jedediah Smith state park on the Smith river , Ca -Or border , its still pretty uncommercialized , and its where they filmed that star wars scene , when they raced the air bikes through the trees If you are talking about Redwood National Forest in CA that is in Northern California. The closest major city would be Crescent City. The only lodging in RNP is camping and a youth hostel. So unless you are going for camping you might find Sequoia National Park, Mariposa Grove in Yosemite or Muir Woods just north of San Francisco just as nice and have more places to stay. http://www.nps.gov/redw/planyourvisit/in... When my family visited once, we stayed in Crescent City, CA at the Lighthouse Inn along US 101. It was simple, but clean, comfortable, and nice! We were there for one night during a trip down the coast. Personal experience look towards santa rosa or north of the city. redwood national forest is north of the city so those would be your best bets. it's a great place to visit! |
