My 1st time in San Francisco, check this hotel do u recommend it for us? |
Travel Info on late aug. this summer i'm planning to visit some cities in CA, friends advice me to stay in this "Travelodge San Francisco Central" good price and good placeut i am not sure is it safe for a group of girls ?? and is it really near to the major interests points in SF i am lookiing for a hotel in this range 120 $- 160 $ safeeee and near to everything if No ...where do u suggest ?? Travel Tips UPDATE: I am so sorry, when I originally responded I thought that was referring to the Travelodge in the tenderloin, because it's name said central which I took to mean city center. Now that I actually checked the location, I can tell you it is fine, very close to easy subway access to most parts of the city you would want to see. It's quieter than union square hotels would be. ------------------------------... It's in an iffy neighborhood, not as dangerous as its reputation suggests (the tenderloin, I lived there for awhile), but potentially ugly. It's in the middle of a vietnamese neighborhood which is fairly safe, but blocks away from drug dealers and prostitutes. Also the nearest BART (metro) station is where a lot of homeless and some drug dealers like to congregate. If you know how to handle yourself in a city, you will probably be okay. If not, I had my fiance stay at: http://www.hotel-rates.com/us/california... When she came from Brazil. It's also on the outskirts of the tenderloin, but closer to Union Sq. and a safer BART station. Hope this helps. Edit: Actually at your price range you could do better. Friends stayed at this place and seemed to like it: http://www.thesavoyhotel.com/ It's located near union square, transit, cable cars and easy to get around from. Others I rather like Travelodge. They seem a little cheap at times, but they tend to have gated communities and a person watching the front desk, which makes them fairly safe against external intruders. It depends. It is on Market St. in a heavily travelled area with cars and streetcars and people -- that can be noisy -- and street vagrants are around and about. If you buy a muni Passport, you can take public transit to a lot of places from where you are located. Also, if you are all urban aware, you wouldn't go in and out alone at night. Daytime, just keep your eyes open. You might be happier someplace else. What about the Handlery Hotel on Geary St. in Union Square? Advice you were given (above my answer) was very complete. The Handlery Hotel was remodelled a few yrs. back and you should have no trouble because it is in the Union Square area -- and Union Square merchants are very sensitive about keeping the streets clean and safe in the area for their visitors. In fact, they have an association that hire people to clean their sidewalks. As an alternative, I would suggest also looking at Cow Hollow Motor Inn. The name is not inviting, but it just means they have a parking garage. Its a great, clean hotel located on a main street that gives you access to great public transit lines. More importantly, the hotel is in the heart of the Marina and the Cow Hollow districts. These neighborhoods are cute, lively, clean, and fun that have a TON of boutique shops; cafes with outdoor seating; great restaurants; coffee shops; movie theater; bars/nightlife ranging from pubs to clubs/lounges. There are literally more of all of the above than you can get to. August can be a little more chilly in some neighborhoods, particulary the Richmond District and the Sunset District. The Marina and Cow Hollow tend to stay sunny during August. Enjoy your stay! |
