What is the best tour from san francisco to yosemite national park?

Travel Info
do you guys know any good one day or two day tours to yosemite national park? also not too expensive?

Travel Tips
Yosemite tours are very expensive. But then, practically anything booked from San Francisco is expensive. Though it's not like you have much of a choice in the matter, as most tourists arrive from (and return to) the city.

I don't think the 1-day bus tour ($115) is worth it because you only get about 2 hours of free time inside the park. The 1-day train tour ($140) is slightly better...giving you a more comfortable ride and roughly 3 hours.

However, private vans and overnight trips ($200+) are the way to go. Yosemite is so large and the sporting activities are so numerous that it really does take more than a day to do it justice.

For an easier and less costly daytrip, I suggest Muir Woods, Wine Country, or Santa Cruz instead.

Gray Line Tours offers day tours of the valley. If you are going alone this would be a better way to tour because there is a daily limit of vehicles to gain entrance to the park.

Yosemite is worth the effort it is like no place else on earth.
I would just rent a car and drive yourself. It is not too difficult and takes about 3 hours. If you leave early, say 6AM traffic is light and you are parked and ready to go by 10AM. To keep it cheap, just ride the free shuttle buses around and get off where you want to sightsee. If day trip try to leave by 5PM. It gets dark fast.

If you want to hike and see Glacier Point or the Big Trees. Get a room or cabin for one night. I've stayed at the lodge, tent cabin and regular cabin. All were comfy, and they have deals sometimes like $59 per night. Yosemite's stars are incredible at night. Worth the overnight. As long as it is not snowed in, you can just rent a sedan. Do not need a tour, the valley speaks for itself.

If you stay overnight go up to glacier point. If you are a serious hiker, do the 11 mile, mostly downhill Panorama Trail. Unfortunately not 100% downhill. But passes by three awesome waterfalls with Half dome always in your sight.
