Traveling to San Francisco in August and is it safe around the Best Western Hotel on 7th street at night? |
Travel Info It was mentioned by some previous tourists about aggressive homeless people at night around there. Thanks Travel Tips sure, just keep to yourself and you won't have any problems. There are many homeless- but they don't bother you. The most they would do is ask you for spare change. Others No, that area, Civic Center, is bad (aggressive homeless, dealers, thugs) . I used to live a couple blocks from there. Just be smart, don't look like a tourist. Sadly, the area is not as safe as we'd like. 7th Street runs parallel to 6th Street. And 6th Street is scary, even for long time residents of San Francisco. Lots of drug dealers, SROs, homeless, prostitutes, and violent crime. We're talking about a road that's often used by Hollywood as a "stand-in" for 1980s New York City (and that's not good). I'm a big guy, have lived in this area my whole life, and to be in that area at night I am very uncomfortable, generally, I'd only be there with someone, and that someone would have to be able to have my back... IF I were to walk there at night, I would 'on guard' there are nicer places to stay for a visit to SF... I wouldnt stay there The area is really not great. |
