Butterfly farms in the bay area? |
Travel Info I live in san jose, Ca But any place near here would be fine... Like san fransico or something. But Im looking for an exibit like place where there are lots of butterflies..prefferably the main attraction! But any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks Travel Tips Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo had a conservatory thing there at one point. not sure if it is still there after the remodel this year. You might also try heading up to redding to Turtle Bay Exploration Park. Also attached is a list of places where you can go to watch the monarch butterfly migration. they usually hit MOnterey and Santa Cruz areas. Source(s): http://www.turtlebay.org/butterflies/but... http://gocalifornia.about.com/cs/califor... Other Travel Tips Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont is a huge stop for migrating monarch butterflies. They just COVER the trees there, and sometimes, I watch huge clouds of them flying over the freeway. Hmm... I live in Fremont, right near Ardenwood Farms, and I've never seen or even heard of any butterflies. I wonder when this migration pit-stop happens... But the first thing that came to mind was Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo. A bit expensive, though, considering you're only interest is the Butterfly Garden, and not Shuka the Killer Whale or whatever. I was there last June, and WOOO HOOO! IT WAS HUMID in there! But, very beautiful. Gotta keep them butterflies from drying out and shriveling up I suppose. They have lots of different butterflies (I think some might be moths). There's even a koi pond inside. And just outside the butterfly exhibit, there are benches near a lake or some kind or waterway, for when you need to take a break from the humidity of the butterfly house!!! According to the park map, it's still there. I'll put the link in, and you'll find the butterfly garden up at the top in the purple section, marked #93. If you've got time, I guess you could call the east bay regional parks and ask them if/when the butterflies come to Ardenwood - it'll be a lot closer than Vallejo, and way cheaper! http://www.sixflags.com/discoverykingdom... |
