Travel Tips It's 25 miles down the 101 freeway, so it's half an hour with no traffic, probably an hour to an hour and a half in rush hour traffic, depending on where in S.F. you're starting from. In case you didn't get the hint from previous answers, doing this commute by car is not a great idea. There is frequent Caltrain service from S.F. to San Carlos, and there are several shuttle vans that run between the San Carlos station and places where people work.
