Nice place to spend a warm day at the beach. But living there you should be retired or work there because, yest the commute is bad.

If I remember correctly, it's really nice... It's been a long time since I've been there though.

Foggy and cold as hell much of the time, especially in Summer. It is also difficult to get in and out of. When Hwy 1, the coastal route goes "down", as it frequently does at Devils Slide, you now have only 1 way left in and out of there: South Hwy 1 to 92, then inland. Having said that, Half Moon Bay is a wonderful place, sitting right on the Pacific with Coastal Range mounts behind which one can hike or mountain bike forever. It is a place unlikely to grow much larger. It doesn't happen often, but it can also be 100 degrees on an Indian Summer Day. You will never see the sun more than 3 days in a row....because the fog machine will always wrap Half Moon Bay in a thick layer again....keeping it cool, grey and beautiful.
I think they still have the pumpkin festival there in October.
