What story have you experienced in MUNI?

Travel Tips
Way, way back in the late 50's, as kids we could get Muni Bus Drivers to stop mid block just to give us old transfers. We would search for a transfer with a number combo of "21" on it. SF legend (amongst kids anyway) had it that if a girl was presented with a "21" transfer, she had to kiss you. Invariably the drivers on my route were elderly (or so it seemed) Black gentelmen, who I remember fondly as always having a big smile and kind words for us kids...all kids, any color...even though we had just stopped them.

Riding on streetcars by hanging on the rear trolley wires. Really stupid. The coolest kids could do it all the way through the West Portal Tunnel..all the way to Market St.

Fighting with other kids to sit in the 2nd driver's seat on the double-ended streetcars of the past.

Attempting to get more than ten punches on the old "Car Ticket", a form of fare the drivers would punch a hole in with their own personalized hole punch shape. If you held it the right way, you could "hide" punch-holes from a driver. Source(s): Good memories

i got mugged in 2005 while i was waiting for the muni in south sf. i was at the bus stop around midnight. it was very foggy and dark, with no people around. a young black thug approached me and threatened to shoot me if i didn't give him all my money. i had over $200 cash on me and gave it to him. the muni showed up a minute later.
My coworker and I were on a crowded #38 Muni going home after work. We were sitting in the front of the bus on one of the long bench seats behind the driver. Two overweight middle aged women got on board, both noticed one space on the bench across from us. They also noticed that they both wanted the same seat. They refused to give up and both aimed themselves into the seat: they ended up sitting between a grab bar and partially on the lap of persons already sitting in the adjacent spaces. One person whose lap was being occupied was grimmacing -- not very happy. Both refused to move. The bus continued on & I can't remember what happened after that, my friend and I couldn't stop laughing.
I was just there for the first time. I love the old F-market line with all the history behind those cars. Also the trolley cars are wonderful...the only way to ride them is standing on the edge. Likewise all of our drivers were entertaining and nice.....defiantly brought a new flavor to mass transit for my husband and i ......
I don't have any interesting personal experiences on the MUNI, but the best story I've ever heard I found on Craigslist:
