Neither of the routes you mentioned. I would use, 580, to 80, to US 50 from Sacramento. In fact, I would REALLY suggest taking Amtrak there! They have a great low cost rail service that travels through Sac via a single thruway bus connection to Carson City. It is way less stressful and makes for a fun trip.
