Travel Info What's the fastest driving route from San Jose to San Francisco China Town? Travel Tips 101 or 280 to 80. Get off at 4th street exit (just before the bridge). Turn left on 3rd Street, left on Market, right on Grant Avenue. Go up a few blocks to the entrance of Chinatown. Others look on mapquest. http://www.mapquest.com/ http://www.mapquest.com/ 280 N into San Francisco. Exit at King street. Take King past the ball park, at which point it will turn into Embarcadero. Stay on Embarcadero and make a left at Broadway. Take Broadway to Stockton and make a left. At this point, you'll be in China Town. Warning: The chance of finding parking on the street are slim to none. Not driving would be the fastest route! Try using Cal-Train! They provide fast and frequent rail service between San Jose and the city. From the station in San Francisco just take the MUNI 30 Stockton street bus right to Chinatown. Some people are close! Here it is: DEFINITELY 280, don't go 101, so, 280 N to 19th ave. (SF) exit, straight North on 19th, cross thru GG Park on same road, down Park Presidio North (you're still on the same tree lined boulevard), rt turn on Geary Blvd (major street, easy to recognize), East on Geary to Van Ness (major boulevard, easy to find), Left at Van Ness to Broadway, go through Broadway Tunnel ( two blocks in front of you), exit other side...your'e in Chinatown. ETA moving well via this route is about 1 1/2 hr. * This route avoids all 101 and 80 freeway, a risk at all times. Also most scenic, if it does involve a few city streets. Take that 280 to King and risk getting screwed. Clearly the first answer was the best. Either 280 or 101 to 80. Then 4th to Market to Grant, 3 blocks. If you rely on the public transit, it will take you forever. If you go when there is NO TRAFFIC, it will take you 50 minutes. Go between 2-7 M-F and it will take 2 hrs. |
