Have you been to Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey, Inverness, or Olema, CA?

Travel Info
...filming locations of movies Play Misty For Me & The Fog
If so what are they like?

Travel Tips
In a nutshell: Olema and Inverness, very small, quiet places a stones throw from the coast. In a rural setting. Usually chilly and foggy. A great spot for spooky and horror type movies.. (just up the coast, Bodega Bay...Hitchock's site of "The Birds").

Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea: Still extremely beautiful spots on the coast, but much more urban and $$$$$$$. I am sure some homes in the area are in the 10-more million dollar range. Site of pro golf tournaments, tourists. Source(s): prefer the quiet of Olema (ground zero of the '06 SF quake}
Other Travel Tips
Carmel and Monterey are beautiful, but often foggy, cold, and the ocean is freezing!
cold & mucho $$$$$$$$$$
I went to Carmel and Monterey in California when I visited San Francisco for a second time. That was in 1982! I still remember that these are beautiful places. The Pacific Ocean view at Monterey is an artist's dream! There were these Cypress trees that grow in such a way they make the landscape so pretty. Great scenery! I just looked through my scrapbook and saw those pictures which also included some seals basking in the sun ,on some rocks piled in a long row (breakwater of some sort?) I saw the outside of Clint Eastwood's home at that time. I took a tour there to Monterey and Carmel-by-the -sea. I did not go to Inverness or Olema, so I can't tell you about them.
Hi,
You are heading in two directions. First Carmel and Monterey are right next to each-other. You will not have a problem in finding your way around both towns you can ask for and get great directions in both places.
The towns are very user friendly all the sites for Play Misty for Me might be hard to find. If you remember the locations from the movie you might pick them out easy, however, the information stops will be a great help and both towns have great food.
Olema and Invernes are a lot different. Not the same tourist destinations like Carmel and Monterey, however, they are into the Arts and Crafts and there are some good food stops as well.
