I think it has too many cars, too many people, and some ridiculous tax laws, like paying more if the ocean can be seen from the top corner of your windows. Wildfires, earthquakes and out of control police officers make it sound like a state to avoid.
And from what I've heard, California doesn't think much of Ohio.
Others

It's expensive and crowded.
Aside from the ever-present earthquake/mudslide/brush fire/LA smog threat, and the high cost of living in the nicer areas, it's quite possibly the idea place to live. Personally, I prefer Southern California, especially San Diego and Santa Monica, but Monterey is cool and San Francisco is beautiful (but not my favorite in terms of climate.) I've never lived in CA, but I've been there a lot. If I didn't have such strong ties to where I live now, I'd move to CA in a heartbeat.
Northern & Coastal CA is beautiful country...

what i think about california is that it is a very beautiful place although ive never been out of ohio i do know that it is a very populated state and is full of alot of celebirties i also know that rumor has it that its sopposed to break off because of the shifting of the plates and earthquakes thats what i think of california
California's a big state. There are, of course, the beaches and the cities, but there are also some absolutely beautiful national parks. If you go and you like the outdoors you should go to sequoia national park and yosimite national park. They are breathtaking.
I think people have stereotyped California by only thinking about people who live on the coast. See the responses above.

Yes, there's expensive places to live. Yes, there's movie stars. There's also cowboys and farmers and desert dwellers and lots of middle-class folks just raising families in small towns. It's a darn big state.
