Travel Tips
well you could check out SF....but it's a 2 hour drive from there.

You can go to Santa Cruz (other side of Monterey bay) and go to the board walk and beach there....it is free to get in and you just need to buy tickets to ride the rides.

if you go to Felton Ca. you can go to roaring camp railroads....which is a great place for family. You can take a train ride up the mnt. there and see big trees ect. and it's a little like an "old west" town. link below. Source(s): http://www.roaringcamp.com/

Um I just moved to the area from Michigan and I went to Fisherman's Whaf which was nice, and I've eaten at the Monterey Fish House. The oysters were HUGE! Also, I drove south to Carmel and Pebble Beach and did the very scenic 17-Mile Drive, where you can stop at the sites and take pics of the view. My favorite was "The lone cypress (tree)" I've only been here 2 weeks so I probably didn't help much but that's all I've done so far!
We went whale watching one time, and all of us enjoyed it!

Dennis The Menace Park-- has a old train that the kids can climb around.

Rent a surrey and ride along scenic paths--loved it!

Trish said it right also there is a cliff where you can watch hang gliders, it is a very neat sight
Hi,
Lets see with Kids, two things will tucker them out in no time. Dennis the Menace Park. Kids love this place. Next take a Harbor tour. The fresh air is great and you can get close the the Sea Lion population on the Breakwall.
Rent a four person bike and have them peddle you around to Cannery Row and back. Let the 16 year old Kayak in the bay. Take the Historic Walk of Monterey from the Old Custom's House, lots of good history here.
Drive to Pacific Grove and visit Lover Point there is a little museum there, or there was at one time. In Cannery Row there is a Carousel that the kids might like.
Drive over to Point Lobos and take a self guided tour, or if it's available the Ranger guided tour.
Tour the Carmel Mission. If you drive down Hwy 1 bye the Monastery at night there is a ghost that might come out. The 17 mile drive might not be of much interest to the Kids but you can ask. Take them to Carmel beach and let them play in the surf, this area is protected from big waves.
