Travel Tips Hi, If you like to walk find out about the Gold Coast Tour the tour starts at the Old San Francisco Mint at 5th and Market or close bye. It's a walking tour that follows medallions in the sidewalk. It will take you form Market Street up Powell across Union Square, down Madain Lane, up Grant through Chinatown, you'll see the real McCoy for Fortune Cookie factory. You will cross Portsmouth Square and work your way through the Gold Coast or what's left of it and into North Beach. You cross Washington Park and into upper Grant St. and upper North Beach. Remember stay on the medallions. Next stop will be Coit Tower. If it's open take the ride to the top. The views are great. As you descend the Tower grounds you'll be very close to Pier 39. At the Pier you'll have to see the Sea Lions and all the shops. Next stop Fisherman's Wharf, have a Crab Cocktail, this is a must even for a Native San Franciscan. If you like historic sites visit the USS Pompanito, s WWII Submarine. At the Wharf you are very close the the tours end. once you walk down the Jefferson past the Cannery you'll walk around Aquatic Park and then back to the Hyde Park Cable Car line this is the final stop on your tour. You have two choices a "Hot Fudge Sunday" at Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Factory or an "Irish Coffee" at the Buena Vista. Now more tourist spots. The Golden Gate Bridge. You can drive across to the Marin side and up along the Marin headlands for some great views or you can drive through the Presedio to Fort Pointand get a good view from sea level. There is a parking lot above Fort Point at the South end of the bridge that has displays of the cable used and the builders information. You can park here and walk out to the South Tower, it will take you a half hour. Head back into the City and drive down Lombard Street this is a one-way trip so you have to start at the top off Hyde Street. You can see Coit Toweer from the top of Lombard so if you've not done the walk drive over and up to the parking spot at the top. A drive through Golden Gate Park is a must any map will get you there and through the Park with all the sites to see highlighted. If you are driving and would like to save a lot of money on parking in and around downtown. Park off Judha Street and take the "N" Judha line downtown. exit the car at Powell Street. Walk up to Market. You can find your way from here to the Old SF Mint or take the "F" line Street-Car. All these cars are Historis, this will take you to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. Remember to use you transfer for the "N" Judha. At the Embarcadero you can catch a Cable Car and ride it up California to the Fairmont Hotel. This is a fun place to have dinner in the Tonga Room. In the Fairmont you have to ride the Glass Evevator to the Crown room and check out the views of the City. Enjoy. Others check under entertainment section at -www.sfgate.com Depends who your going with, guys or girls... if guys then hit up pink poodle strip club in san jose and theres a lot of clubs downtown sanjose. Go to a Giants game they are sooo much fun. Especially if the Giants are playing the Dodgers, because the crowd is all drunk are start cheering eally loud. |
