What about the1day-Minivan tours of the Yosemite Natl Park from San Francisco ? Does it worth it ? |
Travel Info I mean do we have enough time to see most of the highlights of the park... Travel Tips I actually just did this 2 weeks ago. And from San Francisco to Yosemite is more than 2 1/2 - 3 hours. It is around 4 hours (due to driving through the sierra nevada mnt. range). So what we did was left SF and stayed the night and came back the next day. We totally wished we had more time there. You can see the majority of the highlights by just going around the yosemite valley floor by car, however you will not be able to see eveything, and will no way be able to hike at all. Most trails are around 3 hours at the minimum. so you can take a 1 day Minivan tour, however you will be dissapoint because you are not able to explore as much as you would like. However I would do that before not even going there. I would rent a car if I were you. And you can rent a car if you are under 25, you just need to pay a higher rate. We rented through National car rental. Check out different car rental websites and check out there under 25 policy. Others Yosemite is only about 2-1/2 to 3 hours from San Francisco. I would suggest renting a car for the day. You get unlimited miles and you get to plan your day instead of someone else. Plus - the price should be less than a tour! Good luck Not really it is a long trip from SF to Yosemite, You would not really have time to see much of any thing. 2 days would be the least amount of time you should take. I used to live near Modesto, CA It really is about 3 hours if you go through the right gate etc... you do not really drive through the Sierra Nevada Mt. Range. 140 is actually almost flat all the way in, but I take the 120 northern route. The slowest is the Southern Route. Anyway, if you can't rent a car, try to just find some way to get to and from the park. You can then rent bikes or just take free shuttle around park to explore on your own. With one day, you can't really do any major hikes. You can just go and hike Vernal Falls Mist Trail which is cool, or you can circle the valley and see the bottoms of Bridal Veil, Yosemite etc. Two days is really ideal to tour, see view from Glacier Peak, and do at least one hike (I like Vernal, Nevad, or Yosemite Falls). |
