Travel Info I need a day trip activity that isn't so golden gate bridge Travel Tips Take the ferry to Angel Island. Take a lunch; you can either have right at where you get off the ferry, or hike around the island. There are picnic tables in various locations (you can reserve a spot by calling 1-800-444-7275.) It's quite beautiful, and you get a magnificent view of the Bay. You'll also see the immigration station; Angel Island was to SF what Ellis Island was to NY. Although wine tasting is common you have to do it. Even if you are not all that into wine you will enjoy the country side. You can go on a boat and sail around the bay... awesome. You can also charter a small plane with a pilot for under $200 at sunset... that's awesome as well. If you're into hiking, you can do a lot on pacifica, or even the Fremont mission peaks, or in Berkeley, up in the hills, there are a lot of trails. Marin county also have a lot of nice trails. Note that the Berkeley hills offer a view of the bay. Sunset being around 8pm these days, you could easily go there on a weekday and have a great view (I used to live up there). You can drive to the Valley Hall of Science, or you can walk up the fire trail at the top of the Berkeley hills (trail starts lower than valley hall of science). Have fun! |
