What are some "must see" places in Sausalito? |
Travel Info Also, if I drive up there from San Francisco, is it hard to find free street parking? Travel Tips A). Street Parking...free....probably not as nothin' in Sausalito except the beauty and walking is free. Just not that kind of place. B). Must see...it's just not that big, and nothing "Uphill" except private residences. You can buy one if you bring 5 to 20 million (or more if you like). But do go check out the Bay Model, a huge scale model (with real water..Army Corp of Engineers) of SF Bay, down the waterfront past the bike shop. C). Drive from SF if you must, but you can spit from SF to Sausalito...actually it's the first town North x the GG Bridge *** Great advice from tonalc...definitely go down Alexander, and for a treat, just as you start down the hill , on the left will be a "six minute tunnel" you can go through and exit into a new world of basically unspoiled coastal hills and trails and a rugged, dangerous beach at the end, with more hills to climb, up to about 2000 ft. What views! The site of an old NIKE Missle base, still there for viewing. Others Depends if you go on the weekend or on a weekday (weekends are crowded). There's a public parking lot and metered parking on the street. There are some lovely shops and nice restaurants on the water. The restaurants will be obvious (on your right) when you drive in. And hint: don't drive all the way to the Sausalito exit; take the Alexander exit, the first one off the GG bridge. |
