SF Bay Area Day Trip ideas for a special day - Elopment? |
Travel Info Hi All, I live in St Helena - Napa Valley. My boyfriend and I are going to go to get married at the county clerks office in the morning next Thursday. I'd like to make it a special day. Maybe get brunch somewhere, sight see, hang out and go to dinner. I thought about going to San Francisco for the day, getting brunch and going to teatro zinzanni. My boyfriend thought about staying in town and going out to dinner at the place of our first date. Suggestions? We will be somewhat casually dressed. I will be in a white sundress :) We both have to work on Friday, so we just want it to be a special day. Thanks!! Travel Tips Bring a camera and walk across Golden Gate Bridge. have some folks take your picture. Enjoy Others First of all Congratulations!!! I recommend that you take Friday off, you get married only once after all. No one should be expecting you in the office the morning right after your wedding night. Go to San Fransisco make a stay at the Handlery Union Sqare Hotel which has convenient access to the Bay Area's most acclaimed neighborhoods. And I think San Fran is only about 2 hours away so if you really feel like you have to go to work you can still make it if you leave early in the morning. http://www.mytravelscenes.com http://travel.ian.com/index.jsp... Congrats...but I'd recommend to not wear a sundress. SF days, even in summer, are often quite cool (mid 60's). But in any case, layer, perhaps a white sweater to cover the arms should SF be its usual way cool self. Before the evening, walk around Pier 39 and Ghiradelli Square. Both are close to the Embarcadero District, which is full of touristy things to do...includiing my favorite, a harbor tour on a boat. Fisherman's Wharf is also down there; there are a lot of outside kiosks where you can buy some seafood for lunch. All these places have shops, restaurants, and things to do and see. Mimes and streetside entertainers are about everywhere during the summer. The Grand Cafe in the Monaco Hotel, which is at 510 Geary is a really romantic, but casual place for lunch or early dinner. [See source.] I don't know how formal it gets in the late evening because I haven't eaten there late in the evening. But before 5 or 6 PM a shirt and slacks for the lucky groom and that sundress for you would be just fine. The Cafe is also in the heart of SF's theater district; so you might take in a show that evening after dinner. The Tony winning "Beach Boys" is playing now at one of the downtown theaters. http://www.monaco-sf.com/monmon_dining.h... for more on the Grand Cafe Live in the East Bay; frequently go to SF for entertainment. |
