Need Suggestions! Honeymooning in San Francisco? |
Travel Info My fiance and I are planning on taking our honeymoon in San Francisco. We are getting married in Tahoe and then want to go to SF for the rest of our honeymoon. Do y'all have any suggestions of things that we HAVE to do and also a good idea of a nice hotel to stay in. We will splurge! Please help me out! Oh, and we will be there in December so what is the weather like there then? Thanks so much! Travel Tips Just a couple of suggestions: http://www.forbesisland.com/ http://www.beachblanketbabylon.com/... http://www.hornblower.com/port.asp?port=... http://love.zinzanni.org/ http://www.sfgate.com/listings/find/lodg... Congratulations! Others You have to go to the golden gate bridge! It is so beautiful. I just went to California recently and it is so beautiful. San Francisco is going to be cold in December. Probably rainy too and I would bring war clothes. The sheraton is also a beautiful place to stay at. They have the most comfortable beds and great fitness room. There is also a really yummy pizza place there called Pizza Orgasmica, its very cheap so your not going to splurge and very good! Have Fun and Congrats! You can't really go wrong with a suite at the Ritz: http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/properties... They also have a great spa and a very classy Sunday Buffet (with live jazz band). December is, of course, relatively cold. Although freezing temperatures are rare, and on average, it only snows in San Francisco once every 25 years. You should expect rain though. Some ideas: - The 4 most romantic skyline views are from: Twin Peaks, Coit Tower, Treasure Island, and Sausalito. - The Palace of the Legion of Honor and Palace of Fine Arts are great for pictures (even if you don't visit the museums inside). - Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, and Embarcadero Center are especially lively during the holidays. - If you want some privacy at the beach, don't go to the crowded beaches in the Richmond and Sunset Districts. Take Bus 76 (Weekends) or drive to the Marin Headlands instead. - The performing arts scene in San Francisco is strong. So do look into what's playing at the opera, ballet, theatres, and clubs. The Christmas season tends to have more conservative offerings, but even with a focus on the classics, the quality is on par with New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. - If you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing, you can't go wrong with the GO Card (they usually advertise the 6-attraction CityPass, but the 45-attraction GO is better if you can afford it): http://www.gosanfranciscocard.com/... - It's a major splurge, but you should eat, at least once, at one of San Francisco's world-famous restaurants: http://www.garydanko.com/ http://www.fleurdelyssf.com/ http://www.jardiniere.com/ http://www.lafolie.com/ http://www.chezpanisse.com/ Congrats!!! The weather in SF in December is usually raining and cold. But this past winter was the warmest ever! Tahoe is usually snowing and rain - but you never know now a days. If it is snowing make sure you have a 4x4 and snow tires. Your not going to want to buy snow chains for a rental car. Hopefully Hwy 50 will be open so you can make it to SF if it is snowing! But Tahoe is an awesome place to be stuck in! I got married there too. In SF - Stay at the W hotel. They have a great honeymoon menu! Very cool and modern! XYZ Bar is also a hot spot! Or stay at St Francis Hotel or The Clift (you can get a pet goldfish they will feed you) all are in the Union Square area. Must do in SF: Cable Car to The Wharf/Cannery. Eat at Alioto's (seafood) walk the Pier 39 area. Ferry Building is pretty cool, it's kinda like Pike Market in Seattle. Go see Beach Blanket Babalon Show - an SF tradition. Chinatown in interesting but I have no idea where to eat there but check out hte Fortune Cookie place. Also shopping Westfield/Bloomingdale's is awesome. Walk the Golden Gate Bridge. Shop on Union Street near the Marina district. When in Tahoe eat at the Chart House on Kingsbury Grade or Friday Station in Harrah's both have the best view of the area. Zephyr Cove has guided horseback rides that take you to the top of Tahoe and also snowmobiling. Party at Mont Blu. |
