What are the four best (historical and leisure) attractions in San Francisco, CA?

Travel Info
note that it is histocial and also, you can have 4 or more..

but cultural and leisure would be good too.

Travel Tips
Darn it, "rhinist" beat me to it. My list would be exactly the same

Each one has a historical significances to the city and its development. China Town also has a cultural significance too (not to mention some great restaurants). If you had asked for a 5th item I would have included the cable cars.

If you do a web search of each place you can discover detailed information about its history.
Others
There are so many places you wouldn't want to miss in San Francisco.. hmm let's see.

1. Fisherman's Wharf
2. Golden Gate Bridge
3. Alcatraz
4. Chinatown

If you have time, drive up to Coit Tower and view the city from atop, or try your skills at navigating through the crooked Lombard street. Drive up to Lands' End and enjoy the wind and strong waves.
I lived there.
1. Golden Gate Bridge
2. Trolley car ride
3. I loved Mission Delores
4. Alcatraz

If you like road trips and have some extra time, start in San Fran and travel down Hwy 1 to Santa Barbara. It is one of the most beautiful drives you will ever experience. Make sure you take time to stop at the beaches along the way. Great views. Bring your dramamine if you get car sick. Allow at least 7 hours for the trip if you're going the whole way.
the sutro bath ruins. It's my favorite place in San Francisco. It's also right next to the cliff house and a really cool diner called louie's.
1. Maritime Museum which is a number of old ships from the 19th century - a steamship, a lumber clipper etc.
2. Fort Point, the old army base protecting the GG Bridge.
3. Palace of Fine Arts
4. Coit Tower
5. Golden Gate Park
1. Golden Gate Park (De Young Musem, Japanese Tea Garden)
