Can someone tell me how much is to park overnight near Union Square in San Francisco? |
Travel Info I am traveling to SF, and I want to rent a car for two days, but my hotel is in Union Square so I don-t know if there is a parking spot nearby? Travel Tips Overnight parking in the Union Square area starts at about $24. Hotel parking is substantially higher and may run as much as $45. As a general rule there are 3 cars for every parking space which means that there are a lot of people driving around looking for parking at any given time. The many one way streets, hills and lack of parking make driving in the city a real challenge for everyone but for visitors it becomes a real nightmare. A lot of people who live in SF don't own cars, they either rent them or join one of the three car share services available. If you are in the city for only two days and are staying in Union Square public transporation is the way to go. For less than what it would cost you to park the car for one night you can get day passes that are valid for travel on any Muni convayance, bus, light rail, trolley and cable car. Others aj gave you a good answer. Also, the city is small and cabs can be cost-effective, especially if you're sharing it with someone. You may find that the hotel has a car park in the basement, if it hasn't, then from personal experience, parking anywhere in central San francisco is very expensive. There are parking garages in the city centre, these are quite expensive too, but your rental will be safer there than, on the street. This way you'll avoid paying a damage excess on your hire car. Hope this helps, have a nice time, it's a great city. Lived close to Frisco for 7 months and know it fairly well, from daily visits there on weekdays, during that period. |
