Romance in San francisco? |
Travel Info I'm looking for the good ol' lovey dovey stuff that I can do for my anniversary. Absolutly no budget. Any ideas? Travel Tips I know of a really romantic place. The roof of the San Francisco Art Institue (Chestnut between Leventhworth and Jones) has an amazing view of the city (you can see everything from Alcatraz, to the Bay Bridge, to Coit, and even downtown. It is absolutely free and the public is welcome. (there is even a small garden type area with a central fountan/fish). The roof would be a great spot to have a nice little picnic or something and it is pretty priviate this time of year since not very many classes are going on. The first time my boyfriend and I went out I took him there (he is the real romantic type) and it was real fun. Other Ideas: -Washington Square park -A lovely walk through the Presidio -Any one of the numerous beaches -Exploring a cute little cafe that you've never been to and flirting over coffee -There are tons of indepndent films that are free to see (think teenagers movie theater) -Going around to a bunch of art galleries -A picnic just about anywhere (you could even just pick somewhere not that common and make it extra special) -There is that arcade down on the warf that has some couplie type amusemnts that could just be good for a lighthearted time. -Explore a differnet area of town you don't normally go -Take a walk through Golden Gate park -Go on a moonlight walk through either the presidio or ggp and then just relax and listen to the boat horns... Hope one of those gave you an idea. Have a great time! Others Go to Twin Peaks for a view of the city. Watch the sunset on Ocean Beach (dress warm!) Stroll through the Shakespeare Garden, Arboretum or Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park. For a small fee, rent a paddle boat on Stowe Lake. Have a picnic in the park. There's always watching the sunset. The De Young is open late on Fridays--maybe you can go up to the tower. The beach and the Bridge are romantic but cold. A ferry ride costs a little money, but it's fun. And cold. Maybe you could drive over to Berkeley or Tilden Park and watch the sunset someplace where it's not cold. I was at the Rose Garden in Berkeley a couple of weeks ago and it was georgous, and not too cold. (Can you tell I live in the Outer Sunset?) |
