SF gets 20 inches of rain per year (US average is 37), with an average of 259 sunny days per year.

While Santa Rosa gets 30 inches of rain per year, with an average of 256 sunny days per year.

two entirely different places, so i will give you both. Santa Rosa is gets way more rain and is prone to flooding.

Santa Rosa primarily rains in the winter from november to march, with the most rain falling in january and february around 6" per month. Most rain occurs in january and it can flood at the drop of a hat. if a storm is coming in, it hits that area first and clears first.

San Francisco gets the the most rain in january as well though only 4 inches. They have rain in SF the same time as Santa Rosa, but just not as much.
I live in Santa Rosa and the area that does flood is at the Russian River, in Guerneville. Santa Rosa does not flood. Here is a web site with the info. for Santa Rosa.

Most of the rainfall in SF happens between October and January, with January being the heaviest, usually around 4 inches.
