Have you ever been to Alcatraz Island? |
Travel Info Would you like to go? Travel Tips I live in SF, but had never gone to Alcatraz until I was on a TV shoot that filmed there. We got there *very* early, before the tourist boats arrived. The cool thing was that I got to roam around the areas not usually open to tours, and be alone in the cellblocks. I really got a sense of the loneliness and frustration the inmates must have felt, being so close to but so far from SF. Add: It was not closed because of the escape attempts, but rather because it had become too expensive to operate. Others Yes, it was nice. yes, there are lots of sea lions hanging around. Yes, it's definitely worth the trip. And the tour is interesting. And my 10 year old son thought it was really cool also. no yes I've been to San Francisco but didn't have time to visit Alcatraz Island. Sounds cool. I'll visit Alcatraz Island if I ever get back to SF. Only whilst watching the movie - looked pretty good - might be worth a visit. |
