Napa Valley for a day?

Which wineries should I plan on visiting? How expensive is it? (Can I get coupons anywhere?) Should I book a tour, or can I get around by driving? Any advice on visiting the area would be appreciated!

you should look them up online. it depends on which wine company you like. if you have one in mind, really look into it. the more expensive wines will probably be more expensive, like Silver Oak or something along those lines. book in advance for a sure thing. I'm sure if you call in advance you can ask the people for exact pricing and discounts. when you drive around, all you are going to see is vineyards, which is REALLY annoying when people on the freeway slow down and cause traffic to take pictures of the scenary. DON'T DO THAT!!!! actually driving around is okay, but if you are looking into wine tasting, that's another thing.

bring tissues and/or allergy medicine. you can get really bad allergies if you are not from the area. Source(s): I'm from Santa Rosa.

There are many wineries in the Napa valley that do not charge for tasting. Check out "Hidden Wineries of the Napa Valley" book. Also...check out bayareabackroads.com
It is a great travel TV show that has been on for years and gives great tips about weekend getaways, adventures, etc in and around the Bay Area. They should have some ideas for you. There are also places in the town of Napa, and other places I am sure, where you can go and taste all kinds of wines from different wineries from all over the valley. this is a great way to sample wines without having to drive.
