Nightlife in San Francisco?

Me and some friends are looking for good spots for nightlife in San Francisco. We want something that is hip but not pretentious, nothing really ghetto either. Thanks for the help.

Nightlife in San Francisco is mostly laid-back. Covers are reasonable. The bouncers tend to be professional. The clubs usually attract a mixed crowd, both racially and sexually. And there's certainly none of the Paris Hilton or feuding rappers style shenanigans that occurs in Los Angeles or Miami.

Some of my suggestions:

Mezzanine's sound system is one of the best in San Francisco.

DNA Lounge was a famous club during the dot-com era. It went away during the recession (along with most of its patrons). However, it has re-opened, and thankfully, without the "new millionaire" attitude.

Ruby Skye is classy, with lots of posh booths and furniture.

Amazingly, the Endup has been around since the 1970s. Actually located under a freeway overpass, this 'dive' club is definitely unpretentious, and still packs them in during the weekend.
