Do you have a myspace? I know my boys are on there - just go in and search out the zip code of your new area and you will get an idea of the kids around here.....or you can search the school you will be going to....

Heck you could make some that way over the summer so then you aren't a stranger when you start school....

I hope you'll find this information useful...

You can tell them about your leg in whatever manner you wish (or not). Nobody in San Francisco will give you a hard time for a disability. Likewise, the authorities take a very dim view on discrimination of any sort. It's not just illegal... it's taboo. Whether this is political correctness or a more genuine acceptance is open to debate, however. In terms of accessibility, the city tries to accommodate as best it could. Nevertheless, as a historic city with many hills, some places are more accessible than others.

Like in other big cities, it's not easy to make real friends in San Francisco. Privacy is valued. So, strangers will be guarded. And acquaintances, who you might regard as new friends, might be very reluctant invite you to their home. Don't take it personally. Just keep on building up that trust until they're comfortable with having you around.

Hospitals are among the best because of the many prestigious medical schools (Berkeley, Stanford, and UCSF Medical) near San Francisco. Shopping is top-notch, but very expensive. Union Square is ground zero for that. The food in San Francisco is internationally reknown as world-class, so no worries there. Primary and Secondary schools are a mixed bag. It depends on what neighborhood you're in.

San Francisco itself is cool and steady most of the year, with temperatures usually in the 60s. It sees a late summer in September and October when the mercury rises from the 80s upward. But it rarely ever gets below the 40s, and it snows only once every 25 years.

However, the inland suburbs of San Francisco see more typical California weather...with very hot summers (100+ days every year) and colder winters (more freezing).

The rainy season lasts from November-March.
san francisco is a great city, do you know what school you're going to? and dont worry about fitting in, you'll have no problem
San Francisco is great, you will fit in just fine.

Here's a website that has helped me find weekend events... it includes kids activities. http://www.shmango.com

Good luck!
