What to do in Monterey, CA with kids?

Travel Info
I'd like to drive up to Monterey this weekend and do something (besides the aquarium or beach).... something relatively cheap.

I have a family of 5, (me, dad, teenager, and two young toddlers)... does anyone know if those bikes you rent will accommodate all of us?

Any other ideas of something inexpensive to do while there?

Travel Tips
I just took my nephews ages 2 and 5 to Monterey and had the best time. I made it like a educationally adventure, buying them books of all sorts of things they could possibly see, and we took the book and put a sticker on all of the things we saw, we also had a picnic on the beach where we just walked along the shore and allowed them to collect some sand, shells and shiny rocks, to place in a car for collecting. It was such an amazing experience. I have lived in Northern California all of my life, but until you see it again through the eyes of child, you just great a better appreciation for it's wonders. We also took the photos we took, had them draw pictures and made a scrap book. As you can tell, I am kind of on the crafty side, but all of the effort was worth it, they are still talking about that trip today and want to go on another "Sea Adventure" again very soon.

Spend $$$$$$, help the local economy. That's the only reason the locals want tourists.
Hi there! There is the beautiful Lovers Point, located in Pacific Grove...you can take pictures while you're there, or even better yet rent out a bike (I'm not sure if it fits five, you might need to rent two) and bike from Monterey to Lover's Point. You can also go to Carmel Beach, where there is VERY smooth white sand (it feels different from the other beaches)...they're one of the very few beaches that allow dogs, so if you have dogs, you can bring them along for the fun, too!

There is the 17 mile drive that takes you from Pacific Grove to Pebble Beach...a popular scenic drive, home of very expensive houses, as well.

Alvarado Avenue in Monterey is the spot where a Farmer's Market occurs...that only happens on Tuesdays & Thursdays though. Besides the beach itself, there is Fisherman's Wharf...you can grab a bowl of some REALLY good clam chowder and it's not too expensive.

If you go further up Highway 1, there is Moss Landing, Santa Cruz. Pacific Ave. in Santa Cruz may be worth visiting if you haven't already...it's a quirky city.
Born and raised in Monterey! Just moved to San Jose last year.
1. You can rent those multi-person bikes, but I think they hold four people to pedal plus a little basket - probably not enough room to put all of you in one - you might have to rent 2. But they are great fun to ride from the wharf along the bay toward the Aquarium.
2. For the toddlers, how about Dennis the Menace Park? It's at Pearl St. and Camino El Estero. For reviews, check it out on www. tripadvisor.com.
3. Point Lobos is an absolutely beautiful trail walk. I think you have to pay to park here.
4. How about taking a frisbee, balls etc. and just sitting out on the grass with a picnic?
