SF has one of the best public transit systems in the nation with bus, light rail, cable cars, and even regional rail like BART which could take you almost anywhere you would want to go at a much better cost than that of a taxi and often in less time. The system within Sf is called MUNI and most of their routes run very frequently with low fares. Others It would depend on the route, as they also charge for time, but generally about $40. Well, seeing as how SF is only 7 miles by 7 miles, it would be hard to do 16 miles, unless you wanted to go in circles around and around. If you are talking about taking a taxi from the airport its about $35-45 depending on where you go in SF and the traffic (they charge you when you are just sitting there). Oh, and flag drops are different with different companies, many are over $3 these days, not $2.50 as previously reported. Roaddogg is right.
